VDP. Große Lage

Neustadter Vogelsang GG

In the 19th and early 20th century the Neustadter Vogelsang was delivered to the Bavarian royal court and extolled in poetry. However, since then the Neustadter Vogelsang as a site fell into oblivion due to speculations on building land. The magnificent nature and ensuing status as a nature conservation area thwarted any potential building plans. This is how the vineyard came to our hands in 2017. One of the most exciting projects in the entire Pfalz region and far beyond since many years. After several years of cultivation, the 2020 vintage was ready to herald the renaissance of a large vineyard. Neustadter Vogelsang was printed on a label for the first time in 50 years. The soil consists of more than 200 million years old shell limestone, which came to the surface with the collapse of the Upper Rhine rift and is unique in this form in the entire Mittelhaardt region. The vineyard slopes steeply to the south with up to 50% gradient. Due to its location at the mouth of the Neustadt valley, with up to 260 m altitude, there are large temperature differences between day and night, which create lots of suspense in the wine.
